Paris Rain

with 13 comments

Marin County | California

It rained or was overcast much of the time we were in Paris, but Rica provided enough sunshine for both of us, and I didn’t get lost once.

We came to Paris to attend Peter Turnley’s photography workshop and found it fun and informative. He’s an amazing human being who wears his heart on his sleeve, an incurable romantic in the best sense of the phrase. Even after years of photographing the horrors of war and famine for major publications, it was easy to see his determined faith in the best of human nature. Through Peter’s generosity Rica attended every workshop session, and probably learned as much as I did. And I’m sure she did a much better job of getting to know the attendees from around the world.

We rented our apartment on Île St-Louis from A La Carte Paris, and found it just as promised. It was five minutes from the Notre-Dame Cathedral and easy walking distance to many interesting areas. But then, it’s hard to go wrong in Paris. Rica is already talking about returning next year.

Here are a few of my rainy day photos. I’ll post some sunshine snaps shortly.

As you can see, I stuck close to the Seine most of the time just to be sure of my bearings.

  2. Bravo. We’ve been waiting. More … WE WANT MORE. Anthony phoned a hour ago and he’s in VA, on his way here for a 25Th Mercersberg Academy reunion and to play guitar with his old band in a benefit concert in State College. Of course, I haven’t cleaned since last fall. I’ll write later.

    • Thank you. Rica bought a big umbrellas and brought it back to California. She was surprised it got through security with its pointy tip.

    • Thanks, Doug. I wish the Marin Photo Club had a Street Photography SIG.
