About Ron Greene
I’m a retired psychologist living in Marin County, California. I was in private practice for many years, but ended my career working at San Quentin, Salinas Valley, and Soledad state prisons. I worked with severely mentally ill inmates in Administration Segregation most of my eight years. These are special lock-down units where the most disruptive or mentally disturbed prisoners are kept in isolation for most of the day. I plan to use this blog to share some of my photography with friends.
This is fantastic Ron! -alia

Hi Ron, I am a long time patient of Rica’s, as have been my wife, daughter and sister in law; rica is an amazing person! She told me of your interest and experience in photography, your pictures of the homeless are very moving. I live in a nice home in Sun Valley area of San Rafael and can get complacent about how I view the homeless folks nearby. The intimacy of your photos can’t help but remind us that these folks are our neighbors. All best, Scott

Hi Scott,
Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog. I’ve found it a great way to share my photos with friends and vent about things I care about.

Ron – a voice from your past. Good to see that you and Rica are well (wishing her a speedy recovery on the wrist). Had dinner with friends last night and the subject of Heidelberg (of all places) came up – thought of you; and, of course, found you through the miracle of social media. Would love to catch up at some point – much to catch up on. Glad to see that you are still offering your photographic gifts for others to enjoy. Best in ’13!

Hello, Ron. I just read your 2013 blog post about the Downtown Streets program in your area. I would LOVE to know what you think about the program now. Our city (Ashland, OR) is about to pay DS $340K for the first year of this program (guess the cost went up $70 in three years!). Please feel free to write to me and let me know your thoughts. Council is expected to vote on this within the next two weeks or so. Thank you!!

I was skeptical when the program was first announced, but I’ve become a fan. The San Rafael Streets Team has won almost universal praise under the leadership of Andrew Hening. However, these programs are always more expensive than I think they should be.

Hello Ron,
My name is Liisa Heinonen-Miller and I work for Athletic Feat in Napa. We were curious if you might allow us to use one of your photos in our monthly e-newsletter. We’re making a collage of high school track athletes running, hurdling, pole vaulting etc. but we don’t have any images of Justin-Siena athletes. We’d love to use the one of the girl long jumping. And of course we’d give you credit in that section about T&F! Please let me know what you think. Thanks for your consideration!

I can’t give you permission to use my photograph of a student on your commercial web site.

Hi Ron, thank you for responding. It was going to be part of an image that would go along with the local high school track & field schedule in our newsletter, as we try to promote community support for high school athletics. No worries, Justin-Siena will still get their schedule in our newsletter, they just won’t have any images.
